CPU




Intel i7 Nehalem CPU now shipping.  Hyperthreading is now back !!!  i7 has memory controller built-in, just like Opteron



DDR3 memory support is now out with new Intel chipset desktop MB, but memory is 2 times more expensive.



dual socket Nehalem will ship late March.




Hyperthreading is making a come back in next generation Nehalem.





Next generatin Intel procs - 6 cores version will ship mid next year. new 2 cores version will include a video chip in it. ray tracing will also be supported.



Motherboards



New desktop chipset MB, 58 series (X58) now shipping. Supporting i7 CPU


Intel now shipping a new low-end ITX (very small form factor) MB with soldered on CPU, code named Atom.



Other



Windows XP will live on till Jan 31st of 2009. Major OEM will stop shipping as of June 30th, 2008. But you can do a "downgrade" with buying Vista but install XP. You will install an old copy of XP, activate over the phone using your Vista licenses.




  new gen Quadro card FX4800 and FX5800 now shipping



First Gen PIC-E 16x moves up to 2.5Gbps down each "Lane", PCI_E 2.0 raise that to 5Gbps.




Memory – Memory price now steady.



Hard drive - price now steady. 1.5TB version now shipping.
